About the Artist:
Stwwts is a graphic artist from Bangkok, Thailand. He specializes in 3D Character Design based on late '90s/early 2000s gaming aesthetics. His major inspirations can be found in Pokémon, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, as well as Anime and Manga. He's been featured by NFTNYC and Oncyber and has worked on projects for Uniqlo and Amnesty International.
"As a kid, I was very obsessed with games. But my home needed to be richer to buy a game console. Parents never let me go to the arcade. So I could only save up my money, buy a game magazine to pretend I play it, then sit and draw characters from it. I remember buying hundreds of copies and reading them over and over again. Surely they became something deeply embedded in me. My biggest goal is to let my art bring back good memories from one's childhood, allowing them to feel like I'm a friend who grew up beside them.”
Artist Interview:
Where does your blue profile picture character originate from?
The blue character is called “Doggo,” which I created in 2019. The original idea relates to how I create characters with a plot twist. I wanted to trick the audience using the IG multi-image posts to make them swipe right until they got a ‘surprise’ (shock-value) image. Since then, people always called me Doggo doggo, and I found this character is very much reflected in me, to be a bit cute and have a naughty personality at the same time.
What were your top 3 video games to draw when you were growing up?
Final Fantasy
Dragon Quest
Pokemon & Digimon
Do you have any particular routines that you do while creating? For example, do you listen to particular music?
Yes and No, I found myself constantly thinking and picking material for using it in subsequent work all the time, but don't worry, it's relaxing for me. So when I start to create, maybe both kick-by music/soundtrack Or can be completely silent. It's up to that day whether I can concentrate or not.
Besides being an artist, what are your other hobbies?
My hobby is still being an artist, but another failed musician artist 😂 . I was a songwriter and guitarist. Enjoying new music on Friday is my thing. Also, I was an extreme gamer, but since I now manage all how to want to play games into my art process, I rarely play games honestly.
Who is your favorite artist?
Yoshitaka Amano
